Let me tell you about Rosalind Chaston and Andy Hodgson, two adventurers who are embarking on the challenge of a lifetime. They're taking on the Atlantic Ocean, rowing 3,000 nautical miles unassisted, and we couldn't be more excited to be supporting them!
Here at Avery & Brown, we love backing purpose-driven projects and campaigns and nothing gives us a warm fuzzy feeling like supporting causes which are close to our hearts. That's why we got involved with Rosalind and Andy's Atlantic Escapade, after we "met" Rosalind on LinkedIn (although we can't quite remember how that first Zoom call came about!).
As part of their '100 Club', we sponsored them £100 to support their row and the amazing causes they are doing it for. . Alongside the personal challenge, the dynamic duo are rowing the Atlantic to raise money and awareness of two charities very close to their hearts. Andy's nominated charity is the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Rosalind's is Blue Marine Foundation.
Andy has close ties to crews around the coast following his Round Britain Row, and is delighted to continue supporting this fantastic lifesaving organisation, who have saved over 142,200 lives since their establishment.
Meanwhile, Rosalind, who studied Ocean and Environmental Sciences, is passionate about protecting our ocean ecosystems and is excited to support Blue Marine Foundation, which is dedicated to improving our ocean environments.
And what about the boat that they'll be rowing? Well, home for the duration will be an ocean rowing boat measuring just 7 metres from bow to stern. They will be carrying all of their provisions on-board, battling sleep deprivation and physical exhaustion as they row in shifts to keep the boat moving 24 hours a day. From the Canaries to the Caribbean, the pair will test the limits of their physical and mental endurance.
We are incredibly proud to support Rosalind and Andy on their incredible adventure, and we wish them fair winds and a safe voyage. We can't wait to follow their progress and see them achieve their dream of crossing the Atlantic – all in support of some very worthwhile causes.
